The purpose of this site is to discuss the use of C. S. Peirces term of abduction in the field of pedagogics. The way I see it, we use abduction, induction and deduction in the everyday life in school.

Teachers usually use abductive, inductive and deductive methods in the classroom

  • When we creative a scientific hypothesis we make an abduction.
  • When we collect empirical data we make use of an inductive way of gathering knowledge.
  • When we try to prove an equation we make use of a deduction.

These three ways of working with information are crucial for creative thinking.

In the following article I outline some points in working with abduction, induction and deduction in pedagogics.
